Farm Fresh RI: Market Mobile
RI & MA
Inspired by the seasons, fresh flavors and face-to-face relationships with producers, many chefs prefer to purchase locally. However, many lament the fact that getting local food isn't always easy. Chefs cannot spend a lot of time away from the kitchen driving directly to the farms to pick up various orders. Farmers would love to sell to more restaurants, groceries and schools, but do not always have the time and labor available to make deliveries. That's why in 2009 Farm Fresh piloted a new program called Market Mobile, to facilitate buying relationships between RI producers and business buyers and institutions. Market Mobile has been hugely successful for farmers and for customers, and so the program continues to develop in 2010.
Baby Greens Farm
North Kingstown, RI
Founded in 1994, Baby Greens Farm is a 51 acre farm run by Jeffery Kamminga. Baby Greens provides year-round subscriptions of sustainably grown gourmet salad greens delivered to your door once a week. Greens contain a mix of leaf lettuces, mild and hot mustard greens, arugula, and more. Mix changes with the seasons. It's fast food that's good for you!
Established by Neil Thompson in 1998, the farm produces a three year old oyster for the half shell market. Harvested and shipped the same day, to provide the most fresh and consistent oyster possible, for your enjoyment.
New Bedford, MA
Foley customers are assured of freshness because Foley buyers hand select only "one and two day fish", that is, those fish most recently caught, the freshest catch. By contrast, most Foley competitors purchase fish which averages four days old. Foley's acquires these prime quality fish by either buying only from one or two day boats or by paying a nominal premium to get the 'pick of the catch' from boats out longer. No fish is accepted by Foley's until carefully scrutinized for quality and freshness.

Our high standards and farm-to-table mentality has driven four generations of Baffoni’s to provide the finest and freshest quality cage-free poultry to loyal customers, since 1935.

Yacht Club Soda
North Providence, RI
Yacht Club Bottling Works is a family owned and operated local manufacturer. The facility opened in 1915 with the goal of bringing a premium quality beverage to Rhode Island. A lot has changed over the last 95 years, but Yacht Club, The Official Soda and Water Company of Rhode Island, is still dedicated to providing premium beverages to Rhode Island and surrounding areas. Yacht Club uses only glass bottles for carbonated drinks, which can be returned for a credit, sterilized and then reused. Last year alone, Yacht Club reused over 120,000 bottles, keeping them out of our local landfill.
At Narragansett Creamery, we make cheese everyday because we love to and because we believe in freshness. We use local milk, kind bacteria, vegetable-based rennet, salt and nothing else. While we are not certified organic, we are thoughtful in our actions and our purchases. We support fair-trade and local ingredients to the best of our ability and our farmers pledge to not use growth hormones. We are proud to be a family-owned company supported by the Southern New England community we belong to.
